چکیده

FIG. 1. Quantum metrology strategies. The maps Λφ encode the parameter φ to be estimated. (i) sequential scheme: Λφ acts n times sequentially on N/n input probes ρ (this is an entanglement-free classical scheme) ; (ii) entangled parallel scheme: an entangled state of N probes ρN goes through N maps Λφ in parallel; (iii) passive ancilla scheme: the N probes are also entangled with M noiseless ancillas; (iv) active ancilla-assisted scheme: the action of N channels Λφ is interspersed with arbitrary unitaries Ui representing interactions of the probe with ancillas. [All the other schemes can be derived from (iv) choosing swap or identity unitaries Ui].

Dissipative quantum metrology in manybody systems of identical particles

Estimation of physical parameters is essential in almost any part of science and technology. The enhancement of performance in this task (e.g. beating the standard classical shot-noise limit) using available physical resources is a major goal in metrology. Quantum metrology in closed systems has indicated that entanglement in such systems may be a useful resource. However, whether in open quant...

Quantum Metrology: Surpassing the shot-noise limit with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction

Entanglement is at the heart of quantum technologies such as quantum information and quantum metrology. Providing larger quantum Fisher information (QFI), entangled systems can be better resources than separable systems in quantum metrology. However the effects on the entanglement dynamics such as decoherence usually decrease the QFI considerably. On the other hand, Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) i...

Quantum metrology from an information theory perspective

Questions about quantum limits on measurement precision were once viewed from the perspective of how to reduce or avoid the effects of quantum noise. With the advent of quantum information science came a paradigm shift to proving rigorous bounds on measurement precision. These bounds have been interpreted as saying, first, that the best achievable sensitivity scales as 1/n, where n is the numbe...

Robust entanglement-based magnetic field sensor beyond the standard quantum limit

Recently, there have been significant developments in entanglement-based quantum metrology. However, entanglement is fragile against experimental imperfections, and quantum sensing to beat the standard quantum limit in scaling has not yet been achieved in realistic systems. Here, we show that it is possible to overcome such restrictions so that one can sense a magnetic field with an accuracy be...

Advances in Quantum Metrology

In classical estimation theory, the central limit theorem implies that the statistical error in a measurement outcome can be reduced by an amount proportional to n by repeating the measures n times and then averaging. Using quantum effects, such as entanglement, it is often possible to do better, decreasing the error by an amount proportional to n. Quantum metrology is the study of those quantu...
